We're currently working on putting together our FAQ for you.
Preparing Your Trip
Are dogs allowed? Can I bring my doggy?
Yes. In every other cabin. At the moment cabin Lisa is dog-friendly (and soon Cabin Max as well), so you can bring your doggy along for a relaxing getaway. We look forward to welcoming you both! 🐾🌿
I cannot find the exact location of the cabin I want to book?
Yes that’s true. For privacy of our current guest, we send you the exact location and address of your cabin after your confirmed booking. All of our cabins are within 1-2 hour drive from your chosen home location. For more info on each cabin location, you can find direction are the area where the cabin is located.
What shall I bring?
Please check our packing list to see what is included in each cabin and booking, as well as our recommendations on what to bring for your comfort and the best Offgrid experience.
How do I get to my Offgrid cabin? Do I need a car? Can I take the train? Ride my bike?
We recommend taking a car. However all of our location are also reachable via train and bus, or train and taxi, or train and bicycle. Within each cabin description you’ll find those very details. We believe getting to the cabin is an essential part of your Offgrid experience. To slow down, let the city behind and decompress with minute that goes by.
If you need any assistance in planning your journey to your cabin, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We’d love to help you here and share our best experience for each location.
Do I have food or drinks in my cabin?
In each cabin you’ll find Italian herbs, sea salt, coffee, tea, olive oil and vinegar. Food however we kindly ask you to bring what you prefer and feel like and what your personal diet craves. We are working on food packages and local partnerships. Shopping ingredients and cooking together is a great way to disconnect and let it be part of your Offgrid experience. And given the fact that our founder Björn is a passionate hobby chef, he made sure that you’ll find a perfectly equipped kitchen (including proper kitchen knives) in each of our cabins. Happy cooking. :)
Can I drive right next to my cabin?
Unfortunately not. Preserving nature and the animals habit is a top priority for us. In addition to that, for your Offgrid experience we feel it makes a huge difference to not have a "McOffgrid Drive Through“ :) experience, but rather take a little stroll and walk a few hundred meter from you car, to decompress, disconnect and start arriving mentally and emotionally from your city life in the natural surroundings of your cabin. To feel the fresh air, the wind, the outside temperature and everything that surrounds you visually and acoustically. We truly recommend that. :)
And to transport all your gods and luggage, we provide hand carts to pull and get your personal. For your car, you will find designated parking spots where you can safely leave your vehicle.
Also please note, that any damages to the grounds or surrounding areas may incur a fine. Thank you for being here with us on the same page.
How does the check-in and check-out work?
Keyless. 24 hours prior to your arrival, you will receive an email with your personal access code to your cabin door. You will also find this detail in your digital travel guide that you will get from us prior to your check-in.
Check-in will be possible from 15:00 h onwards. Check-out is by 11:00 AM.
Unless you’ve booked an early check-in or late check-out. Also, we might, depending on the next guest arrival, also be able to offer you late or even later check-outs. So please do never hesitate to ask and we’ll see what we can do for you on that very day.
Can I drink the tab water in the cabin?
We use fresh tab water to fill our Offgrid cabins. We also tripple filter the water in the cabin water system before it comes out of the tab. We personally drink our cabin water and use it for tea, coffee etc. We also cook our pasta etc. with it. In addition we regularly do water tests. If you are sensitive to this however, feel free to bring your own water just in case.
During Your Stay
I am out in nature, but what about emergencies?
While we encourage disconnecting, we understand the importance of having a way to communicate in emergencies. All of our cabins are located in areas of phone reception. Mobile reception however can vary depending on your provider.
Also, due to the high insulation that we use in the walls, reception inside the cabin might not be ideal. Which might be good to switch off inside. Stepping outside the cabin will then enable you to make calls. If unable to use your phone, we also provide emergency mobile phones in our cabins.
Do I have WiFi?
All cabins are equipped with free WiFi. And when you're out and about, you can easily share your memories and stay in touch with your loved ones. It's all about finding that balance between disconnecting and staying connected, and we've got you covered.
Composting dry toilets?
Our cabins are carefully designed to be 100% off-the-grid, environmentally sustainable and have as little impact on the environment as possible. This includes the presence of modern composting toilets. These toilets operate very similarly to yours at home, with the exception of the flushing sound. They separate liquids from solids, which are then composted. We kindly ask that you use only the provided toilet paper.
Where can I park my car? Can I drive up to my cabin?
Your parking spot will vary depending on the location of the cabin. There's no direct access to the cabin by car, so you can start your adventure early. Walking (just a few minutes) to your cabin - we believe – adds to your adventure out in nature. Don't worry, we provide a nice cart at your parking space for you to easily transport your supplies to the cabin.
Booking Your Cabin
How do I book?
With the overwhelming excitement from your side and only limited number of cabins available at the moment, we've decided for an invitation-based booking system – for the moment. So here's how it works: first, follow us on Instagram and then, reach out to your circle of friends and ask them to refer you to Offgrid. Once they do, they'll send you a personal booking code for you to be able to book your stay with us. It's all about unforgettable experience for you. We appreciate your patience and understanding and can't wait to welcome you to Offgrid for an amazing stay!
